Wedding of Dean & Becca – Berkeley Castle
As a wedding photographer Gloucestershire, who is very privileged and who gets to shoot in hundreds of amazing venues, Berkeley Castle in Gloucestershire surely has to grade as one of the top wedding venues in the UK. I was recently lucky enough to be commissioned by Becca & Dean to photograph their wedding at the castle and what a fairytale event it was to. It’s worth saying from the beginning that Becca & Dean are your archetype clients, very lovely with wonderful vision and style and very much in love. Mecca & Dean booked me almost two years in advance so we had plenty of time to plan the day and for me to get a real understanding of what they wanted from their photography.
The wedding day was of course the vision of Becca & Dean but it was perfectly created and crafted by the incredibly talented Ruth Hunter from Finesse Planning a multi award winning wedding planning company, owned and run by Ruth. The day started as always with the girls getting ready at a nearby venue and Becca’s makeup was beautifully done by the very talented Monika Vubrlova. It has to be said that Becca looked breathtakingly beautiful and her wedding dress looked just divine. I knew that Dean would be rocked when he saw Becca walking down the isle and I wasn’t wrong. Becca arrived at church in a white London cab from Forever London Taxis and Lovedub Weddings.
The church ceremony was held in the wonderful church of St Mary’s, which borders the castle estate and couldn’t be more convenient for bride & grooms having their reception at the castle, as it’s literally a 2 minute walk away. The service was conducted by the lovely Rev’d Richard Avery, a real gent and very photographer friendly. The service was a very emotional and lovely to witness and photograph. With plenty of room inside to get great coverage there wasn’t any problem sharing the space with Ali & Justin from Vogue Wedding Films. Both Ali & Justin were fantastic to work with and I couldn’t recommend them highly enough. During the ceremony the guests were treated to the hair tingling, haunting sound of the Ogmore Male Voice Choir.
On completion of the ceremony the bride, groom and guests headed off to Berkeley Castle for their drinks reception in the Longs Drawing Room and a few formal photos, before heading into the Great Hall for the wedding breakfast. The Great Hall looked spectacular and the vision of Becca & Dean was executed perfectly by Ruth & her team. The floral arrangements were simply beautiful and the Autumnal colours created by Sorori Design worked perfectly. After the wedding breakfast I was fortunate to have another little shoot with the b&g and found an amazing little secret spot I never knew the castle had 😉
The dancing started soon after the cake cutting and the fantastic cake was supplied by Cut Above Cakes. After a touching 1st dance the bride had a dance with her dad, something that doesn’t happen so much anymore and is a real shame. I left soon after the dancing started and it looked like it was going to be an awesome party. I had an amazing time and the images are looking great. Good luck to Mr & Mrs Cox and I wish you every happiness for the future.
